Aeterna Noctis Is A New 2D Platformer Coming This Year To PS4 & PS5

Many players of Aeterna Noctis have gotten lost or stuck while playing the game; since the experience is so large, many people will want to know some beginner tips that will help them set off on the right foot until they can start figuring out the ropes on their own.

7 Don’t Skip Battles

Battles are important in Aeterna Noctis; unfortunately, though, they are rather tedious to go through. Many players have stated that the battle system in Aeterna Noctis is one of its weakest points, as the strategy for many fights is to simply push buttons like mad and hope it works.

Though it may seem tempting to avoid battles altogether, they are rather necessary to game-play. Defeating enemies will cause the player to gain shadow orbs. This will, in turn give the player perk points to use on skill trees that will ultimately make their character stronger in the long run.

6 Don’t Be Afraid to Explore

One of the selling points of Aeterna Noctis is the huge, beautiful world that is completely hand-drawn for a player to explore to their heart’s content. The sprawling world of the game offers countless things to see and do within the world, and many benefits to have from this exploration.

There are many side-quests for a player to complete and work through during game-play of Aeterna Noctis; some players have even stated they get up to a hundred hours of game-play from fully exploring the world. There is so much that the game has to offer, there’s no reason not to explore.

5 Don’t Get Lost

Although exploring the world of Aeterna Noctis is one of the best parts of the game, it is rather easy to get lost. Due to how large the world is (and the fact that the game isn’t the clearest on telling a player if they need to backtrack someplace else), it’s not very difficult at all for somebody to get lost in the map.

There are many side-quests for a player to explore and carry out in the world, and if they’re not careful, they can get lost without knowing how to return to where they were beforehand. It’s best to be aware of the surroundings before setting out to explore.

4 Use Thrones to Heal and Equip Gems

Thrones are essentially the one respite in the barrage of attacks that Aeterna Noctis has to offer to the player. These thrones have many perks to offer – they will let the player heals themselves fully, along with equipping gems on themselves to help during game-play.

One of the most important perks it has to offer, though, is the ability to fast-travel around the map. Many players have said that these thrones are one of the best parts of the game, due to how much easier it makes traveling. The only problem is that these thrones are somewhat difficult to find.

3 Buy Icons From Merchants

Merchants have many things to offer for the player when it comes to little benefits and upsides for them to use during game-play. One of these benefits is the ability to buy colored icons that would show up on the map, along with a map that shows the entire area of the game.

These colored icons will show where the thrones are in Aeterna Noctis, making it somewhat easier to find them. These icons can definitely be a help in the long run, especially when a player is on low health and needs to find the quickest throne near them.

2 Retrieve Souls Post-Death

After dying, a player will drop their Soul where they had fallen, before reviving. If a player goes back to where they die, they will be able to collect that Soul and all of the experience that they had lost from the death. Unfortunately, if they die while in a soulless state, a player can’t recollect any experience they lost then.

Thankfully, a Soul doesn’t disappear in this Metroidvania, so a player wouldn’t have to worry about a time limit while looking for where they had died so they can collect their soul. The map is large, so a player should be careful.

1 Health Shards Aren’t Useful

Unfortunately, the healing items in Aeterna Noctis are almost downright useless. Using the throne to heal is pretty much the only way players recover any health. Apart from that, there are items known as health shards, which act as the Aeterna Noctis version of potions.

They are single-use, and only heal a couple of health orbs at most (which is barely enough to make a dent once a player has enough HP). Overall, most players consider these health shards are unnecessary, if not useless. Health shards will not be used in any way, shape or form, and the best course of healing action is to simply use the throne.

Aeterna Noctis is available on Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5.
