However, there are people who may end up getting stuck along the way without knowing what they are doing, and might need a few tips to push them to the right path beforehand. As such, there are a few essentials for new players to know before they start playing Gordian Quest.
7 Catherin and Naran are Pretty Strong Together
At the beginning of the game, the player will gain the ability to choose between ten different playable characters at launch; they will unlock more characters as they go on, but they will be able to pick a from a few characters in their roster. Catherin should be one of the first characters they select.
This is because Catherin can seriously deal some damage (despite being a cleric), heal her party, and be able to stay in the frontline due to her bulkiness. Naran provides a bunch of buffs that will set up Catherin and the rest of the party, as well.
6 Change the Difficulty
A player can actually change the difficulty of their game at any point during gameplay. If the game becomes too difficult, the player can turn down the difficulty to make it easier for them.
On top of this, a player can also decide whether or not they want their game to be played more as a rogue like or as a rogue lite. Of course, they can always change the difficulty again as often they like, so they can ease themselves into harder difficulties as time goes on.
5 Use Events for Rewards
While a player is traveling through the in-game world, they will start to notice Events scattered throughout the map. It would do them very well to clear these Events as quickly as they can when they see them.
By clearing events, a player will be able to gain better loot and more experience, along with some in-game currency as the cherry on top. This experience is always good for their party members, as it can help crank up a few levels in order to make them stronger in the long run.
4 Ensure that Weaker Members are in the Back
One thing a player may not think about for too long is the formation of their party; that is to say, which party members are standing where. It may not sound important at first, but deciding the front lines and back lines is essential.
The units that are in the front line will be attacked more than the units in the back. Generally, it would be a good idea for a player to put their bulkier units with more health and defense in the front line, along with keeping units with less health in the back.
3 The Innkeeper will be Important
One particular NPC, the Innkeeper known as Dana, will be one of the most important NPCs that a player should interact with on a regular basis. The Inn will be the best place for a player to recover the health of their cards after a battle.
On top of this, Dana the Innkeeper is where a player can exhaust all of their dead cards after a battle. These are the cards that lost all of their HP, and cannot be used at the moment. It is a great idea for players to stop by and see the Innkeeper as often as they can.
2 Shuffle Through the Inventory
The player will often have their inventory fill up with all sorts of useless junk as they go through the game. This is what is to be expected, as a player will get all different sorts of loot during each battle.
The player needs to regularly go through their inventory, disposing of any cards that they deem to be “unimportant” or otherwise just not usable in any way. This will free up space and make sure that only the best of the best will be in the player’s inventory when it is time for a battle.
1 Character Quests Unlock More Units
At a certain point, players will realize that their Guild Hall is a bit empty when it comes to recruiting people. Luckily, the best way to fix this is to start completing Character Quests as they progress through the game, as it will unlock more units to recruit.
Character Quests can be found throughout the map of the world the player progresses through. Luckily, once these quests are completed, the player will then be able to hire the character in question at the Guild Hall; completing these quests will be extremely worthwhile in the end.
Gordian Quest is available on Microsoft Windows.
