We’re going to explain some reasons why you should sign up to Paramount+, including the wealth of original content, affordable price, and wide device availability.

1. Good Value for Money

Paramount+ costs just $5.99/month for the regular plan, which is supported by ads. That’s a great deal. Alternatively, you can pay $9.99/month without ads, which is still affordable. Respectively, those plans cost $59.99 and $99.99 annually.

Netflix’s most popular package costs $13.99/month. HBO Max costs $9.99/month with ads or $14.99/month ad-free. Compared to those, Paramount+ is a considerable bargain.

2. Available to Watch on Many Devices

You can easily watch Paramount+ across many devices. The streaming service is compatible with most major streaming, gaming, and mobile platforms, including Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android, PlayStation 4, Xbox, and most major TV manufacturers, including Samsung, LG, and Vizio.

3. Offline Viewing

You can watch your shows offline, providing you subscribe to the Commercial Free option. The majority of shows and movies on Paramount+ are available to download for offline viewing, meaning you can easily watch on the go without an internet connection.

This feature is supported on iPhone and iPad (iOS 11 and later) and Android (Android 5 and later).

4. Plenty of Sports

Compared to most of its competitors, Paramount+ has a lot to offer if you’re into sports.

CBS’ NFL games are available, which is great if you’re a football fan and a cord-cutter. Fox doesn’t offer that for its games (although it was set to begin showing condensed game re-runs on free streaming service Tubi in 2021), nor does ESPN on ESPN+, although Peacock does offer NBC’s weekly Sunday Night Football games.

But it’s not just the NFL. Paramount+ offers other sports that CBS holds the rights for, including Southeastern Conference college football, the Masters, and the NCAA Tournament. There’s also a lot of soccer, including the rights to the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.

5. Lots of Original and Old Content

If you’re a fan of Star Trek, it’s practically a no-brainer to subscribe to Paramount+. That’s because every single episode of every single Star Trek series is available on the service, from the original series in the 1960s to The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager in the 1990s and 2000s, to the Paramount+ original series, Discovery, Picard and Lower Decks.

Since Paramount’s parent company ViacomCBS owns the rights to Star Trek, those shows aren’t dropping off Paramount+ anytime soon, and it may become the exclusive home eventually.

Paramount+ also offers a large library of movies, most of them from the nearly century-long history of Paramount Pictures. The headliners include the Godfather movies, the Mission: Impossible series, and the Indiana Jones series.

In addition to that large movie library, ViacomCBS announced in early 2021 that it would begin streaming some new Paramount Pictures movies on Paramount+ 45 days after they debuted in theaters. On top of all that, Paramount+ will get a free original movie a week in 2022.

There’s also plenty to offer on Paramount+ for fans of comedy. In addition to comedy movies and stand-up comedy specials, Paramount+ is the streaming home of Comedy Central, which is another ViacomCBS property. That gives you access to The Daily Show, Broad City, and even more obscure shows from the past like Kroll Show, Detroiters, and Corporate.

Finally, Paramount+ holds the archive of Comedy Central roasts, featuring the likes of Bob Saget, Bruce Willis, David Hasselhoff, and even Donald Trump.

6. A Wealth of Children’s Entertainment

Children’s programming has been an underrated aspect of the streaming wars, as streaming services have scrambled to line up content that will capture the eyeballs of children. Paramount+ has assembled a kids’ show war chest that’s probably second only to that of Disney+.

That’s because Paramount+ owns Nickelodeon, and therefore can offer shows, movies, and future spin-offs related to all the major Nick and Nick Jr. shows and characters. That includes SpongeBob SquarePants, Peppa Pig, Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, and also Henry Danger, iCarly, and others from the Teen Nick orbit, which appeals to older kids.

Once again, since ViacomCBS owns Nickelodeon, this programming is likely to not ever leave Paramount+. And if those particular characters are particularly important to your kids, good luck explaining to them why they can’t see them without Paramount+.

7. Support For 4K, HDR10, and Dolby Vision

Providing you sign up on the Commercial Free tier, and have a device that supports it, you can watch some shows and movies in 4K, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. Not all content on Paramount+ supports these high resolution formats; it’ll be clearly marked with a badge if it does.

You Should Subscribe to Paramount+

Paramount+ offers an eclectic mix of programming from the realms of sports, sci-fi, reality TV, and much more. And it’s offered at a price that’s attractive compared to most competitors. It allows you to watch on many devices and download if you’re on the higher-priced tier, which also allows for viewing in the best available formats.

The content on Paramount+ will likely change over time, probably with original shows and movies taking on more of a prominent role, as that has what’s happening for most streaming services as they have matured. But the service nevertheless offers great value right now.
